JVP now accepts applications for Batch 29 volunteers

Be a full-time JESUIT VOLUNTEER!

Now on its 28 th year, JVP continues to send volunteers across the country to render effective, faith-driven volunteer service.

Basic Qualities:

  • Single
  • 18 to 35 years old, at the time of acceptance to the program
  • College graduate or graduating, at the latest, in April 2008
  • In good physical health and has no physical impediments to work as a volunteer
  • Psychologically balanced and emotionally mature
  • Willing to serve in any area of assignment in the Philippines
  • Available for one program year (May 2008 – April 2009)

Preferred Qualities:

  • Strong involvement and leadership in community, parish, school activities and issues
  • Very open to learning and effective in sharing skills and training
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Filipino
  • Compassionate to the poor and marginalized

JVP continues to weave stories of hope through partnership with institutions that share our mission of empowerment and nation-building.

How can our institution request full-time volunteers?

JVP considers applications from all over the country: under-resourced schools, parishes, indigenous communities and non-profit organizations and is guided by the following criteria in selecting VSP Partner Institutions:

  • Urgency of the Need for the Volunteer
  • Volunteer’s Scope, Nature and Impact of Work
  • Support Structure for the Volunteer
  • Promotion of Volunteerism
  1. Write a Letter of Intent (LOI) formally requesting volunteers (refer to Institution’s Online Application Procedure)  Address your letter to:

A Piano Concerto by Carmencita Sipin-Aspiras

To help support the volunteers, JVP will be holding a fund-raising classical piano concert on July 8. It is a concert for the arts and music circle that hopes to impart fine music and at the same time spread the story of JVP to people who would like to share JVP's mission. The artist, Carmencita Sipin-Aspiras, is an internationally renowned pianist who will be performing for JVP for free.

Coming at the heels of the successful benefit concert held late last year that headlined musical artists Monique Wilson, Jamie Rivera, Bimbo Cerrudo and Jed Madela, the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines (JVP) Foundation, Inc. once again promotes the talents and goodwill of Filipino musicians as it brings home classical concert pianist Carmencita Sipin- Aspiras for a one-night performance on July 8, 2006, 8 pm, at the Francisco Santiago Hall in Makati City.

INTERESTED APPLICANTS to the JVPFI Membership Program (Part-time volunteer service program) may attend the Orientation Seminar (Orsem) on May 27, 2006 (Saturday) at 1:00-5:30 pm at the East Asian Pastoral Institute Nebrada Terrace in Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. You may bring your accomplished application forms which you many download (here).

FORMER JESUIT VOLUNTEERS may continue to submit their confirmation documents on or before the Orsem date. (See related information.)

ORGANIZATIONS involved in DEVELOPMENT WORK WHO NEED VOLUNTEERS for their various activties MAY APPLY AS PARTNER INSTITUTIONS for the JVPFI membership Program. For more details, click (here).

The deadline for confirmation of membership is extended to May 27, 2006 (Saturday). Former volunteers of Batches 1-25 are still invited to submit their confirmation forms and personal data sheet to the Local Chapters or to the National Office.

"There truly is joy in sharing."

"Congratulations on a fabulous, heart-warming celebration!" was the remark of a donor who went to the JVP benefit concert, “ The Joy of Sharing: Songs and Stories of Hope ” last November 13. "I will convince my five-year old son to join JVP," a judge who was also there said. "It was very successful and inspiring," according to some friends from the Society of Jesus Social Apostolate. "That was very inspiring" said some JVP parents. "I went to a very, very good concert last night," the president of Makati Medical Center and Asian Institute of Management narrated to a colleague. JVP-MLC Badminton Tournament

The JVP Manila Local Community (MLC) Badminton Tournament held last February 13, 2005 at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center, Ateneo de Manila University was a smashing success. Thirty-three former volunteers and friends joined the tourney while others came to watch and cheer the players on.
