Dear JVP Community,

Times are hard, but helping each other, life has to go on and we will get by.
While as individuals we feel the crunch of the rising cost of fuel - of living, in general - the JVPFI as an organization also feels the crunch. Thankfully, there are those who, in the midst of difficult times, nevertheless see that there are other Filipinos in greater need, Filipinos JVPFI serves. JVPFI strives to find these able people who see farther beyond and to help other able people to push back their horizons and also see farther beyond.
On September 24, Saturday, 4pm, JVPFI will launch the Joven Ignacio all-purpose Art Cards at the Designs Ligna, 4th Floor, SM Megamall Building B. The project aims to raise at least Php 250,000.00 from the sales proceeds to support at least three volunteers for one year while promoting Philippine art, flora and fauna, and volunteer service. It also aims to help us find a new market of donors, penetrating the world of the visual arts and those who can afford it, for them to turn their gaze on JVP and support our cause. The A and upper B markets mostly own Joven Ignacio's paintings.
Joven Ignacio is an alumnus of the Ateneo de Manila University, member of High School Class '80. He is one of the country's finest naturalist watercolor painters today and has a steadily growing following, including national artist Napoleon Abueva. Believing in the cause of JVP, Joven has lent for JVP's exclusive use for one and a half years six of his artworks in his renowned Philippine birds and flowers series. He is also helping to market and sell the cards.
Former JVP volunteers have also pitched in to make the project possible. The Pavia JVP couple sponsored the printing of the cards through their Art Angel Printshop while Nicky De Lange's Designs Ligna furniture store agreed to cover the costs of the launch at the store. Through the help of Fr. Rudy Fernandez, SJ, JVPFI Assistant National Chaplain, his student's company - Joseph Server & Associates - is sponsoring the paper needed by the project. The company takes charge of the beautification and greening of the Ateneo de Manila campus. The Philippine Star, through former JVP
Joy Belmonte-Alimurung, helped in the promotions of the card project by facilitating the printing of a half-page feature article, "Green Art
Supports Volunteer Service", in the Lifestyle Section, G-2 of the newspaper today, September 19, 2005.

While Joven Ignacio's art enthusiasts will surely patronize the art cards, they are made affordable and accessible to many others as they are sold at the JVP office at a reasonable price of Php 150.00/box of six with two cards per design. The cards measuring 5.25" x 7.5" are a great gift idea not just for Christmas but for all time. At the back of each of the 12,000 cards are a description of JVP and the logos of Art Angel Printshop, Designs Ligna, and Joseph Server & Associates. By September 24, the cards will also be available at the A-Shop in Ateneo de Manila, the Metropolitan Museum, and the Ayala Museum, and other outlets to be announced soon, but with a mark up for their sales commissions. We would also be happy to arrange for the printing of Joven Ignacio cards with messages for company Christmas give-aways or Christmas cards for clients and patrons. Other NGOs, especially those with environmental causes, are also welcome to tie-up with JVP for marketing of the cards for their fund-raising.
We would appreciate your presence at the launching on Saturday and your support through purchases even if you cannot come on Saturday. With this project, we hope to promote volunteerism and spread the word about JVP to people who do not yet know JVP. Your presence and support will make this possible. Following this email is an electronic invitation to the event and soft copies of the cards.
Our generous artist and sponsors have helped make this project possible and to them we are most thankful. I hope you will also put in your contribution and support this endeavor that promotes Philippine art, Philippine flora and fauna, and volunteer service to the Filipino!
In Christ,
Jo Maribojoc
Executive Director
