Preparing Communities

Jesuit Volunteers participate in raising awareness and facilitate disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) activities in their placements. Traveling to many far-flung barangays of Eastern Samar, Philip Sumaylo of Batch 36 and a team from the Diocesan Commission on Social Action Justice and Peace, conduct Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment and Community Risk Mapping Activities.

The JVPFI National Office launched GBG: Go by Giving (a fundraising campaign for Jesuit Volunteers on Mission) at the Aerie in the Ateneo de Manila University.

The new set of Manila Local Chapter officers also took their oath before the JVPFI President, Mr. Bombim Cadiz. GBG will also be launched soon in the JVPFI Local Chapters. “Go by giving” is part of a quote by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta where she said: “Some give by going, others go by giving.”
