As the pandemic shook our faith, God never failed to use people to remind us that there is hope amidst these difficult times. For this year&#8217;s recollection, we were blessed to have members of the Jesuits Volunteer Philippines [JVP], Blas Descallar as speaker and Love Dorero, technical assistant.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2603\" width=\"591\" height=\"313\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4.png 1330w, https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4-360x191.png 360w, https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4-768x408.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Their reaching out to us is\u00a0beneficial in combatting the challenges of materialism and self-centeredness we are facing. The recollection rerouted us to find a deeper meaning of ourselves and how to live out the core Christian values. We were challenged to rediscover Christ-like values, learning it from the great saints like Mother Teresa. We rekindled our zeal for prayer and rediscovered our universal duty as Christians.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2604\" width=\"590\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/6.png 1320w, https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/6-360x194.png 360w, https:\/\/jvpfi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/6-768x413.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The songs\u00a0that were played with guiding questions after, enabled us to reflect and ask questions about the life we lived during our entire high school life. The movie clips shown were heart-warming, they knocked at our hearts and taught us the value of family that we had taken for granted. It is amazing that it was still interactive, exciting, and interesting even given the online platform used.\u00a0 I truly believe it was God&#8217;s providence to experience a short recollection that awakened us to nurture our faith and reach out to all people around us especially our family members.
